Biodiesel Facts:
Biodiesel is a diesel-equivalent, made from sources such as vegetable oils, which can be used in unmodified diesel-engined vehicles. It is VERY different from the straight vegetable oils (SVO) or waste vegetable oils (WVO) used as fuels in some modified diesel vehicles.
Biodiesel refers to alkyl (methyl or ethyl) esters made from the transesterification of vegetable oils or animal fats. Biodiesel is biodegradable and non-toxic, and typically produces about 60% less net carbon dioxide emissions than petroleum-based diesel.
- Burns up to 75% cleaner.
- Substantially reduces unburned hydrocarbons.
- Substantially reduces carbon monoxide.
- Contains no sulphur
- Plant-based and adds no CO2 to the atmosphere.
- Is environmentally friendly.
- More biodegradable than sugar, less toxic than table salt.
- Can be used in any diesel engine
- Fuel economy is the same as with normal diesel.
- Better lubricant and extends engine life.
- High cetane rating, which improves engine performance.
- Can be mixed with petroleum diesel fuel in any proportion.
- Produced from any fat or vegetable oil, waste cooking oil.
